Social Media Post Explanation

The choices I made in posting this picture was that I wanted to show off my old truck in a large snow that happened early in 2017. I also chose to post this picture because it was seen as “cool” and “popular” back home to post pictures of your truck or car in the snow. I also chose to post this because I believed it was a cool picture and I’m glad I did post it because we have sold that truck since then and I’m glad to have a picture of it.

When I posted this photo, I believe I was only making one assumption; I was making the assumption that the viewer had previous knowledge that the truck pictured was mine.

By posting this photo, I am presenting myself as a cool guy, with a nice truck, by posting a picture of my truck either in the snow, after it has been cleaned, or after I had gone mudding. Looking back on it now and with a new perspective, I can see how I may have been perceived differently. Other people may have seen me as just another “cool” redneck that only cares about trucks and getting drunk; many of the people who posted pictures of their trucks back home where rednecks and didn’t care about their academics and partied and got drunk every weekend. Writing this blog will help me with what I decide to post in the future because I will stop and consider how this is making me look and if that’s the image for myself that I am going for.
